BAIC Makes Official Entry into New Zealand: B30 and X55 Launch Together, Marking a New Chapter in Quality Mobility
On February 27, BAIC officially launched in Auckland, New Zealand, with the debut of two strategic models: the B30 and the X55. Chinese Ambassador to New Zealand Wang Xiaolong, Auckland Deputy Mayor Desley Simpson, BAIC International Chairman Wang Jianhui, dealer partners, members of the media, and distinguished guests from various sectors gathered to witness this milestone moment, marking BAIC’s formal entry into New Zealand’s mature automotive market and opening a new chapter in BAIC’s international expansion.

New Zealand is a mature and highly sophisticated automotive market, where consumers hold world-leading standards for safety, quality, and service. Bringing its core models to New Zealand reflects BAIC’s full confidence in its product capabilities and operational strengths, while highlighting the brand’s unwavering commitment to deepening its presence in global markets and serving customers around the world.

To date, BAIC International has established a footprint across more than 90 countries and regions, with a brand portfolio comprising BAIC, ARCFOX, and STELATO. Looking ahead, BAIC plans to introduce a series of globally oriented models covering multiple powertrain options and both left- and right-hand-drive markets. By advancing combustion, battery electric, and hybrid technologies in parallel, BAIC will continue to strengthen its core competencies in electrification and intelligent connectivity, delivering reliable, high-quality mobility solutions to customers worldwide.

At the launch event, Wang Jianhui made three formal commitments on behalf of BAIC International to the New Zealand market. First, technology leadership. BAIC will continue to ramp up investment in new energy and intelligent technologies, blending its off-road DNA with cutting-edge innovation to introduce globally competitive vehicle models. Second, uncompromising quality. BAIC will strictly adhere to local regulations, establish a quality control system that exceeds industry standards, and advance localized adaptation and iterative development. Third, worry-free service. BAIC will build a full-lifecycle service ecosystem, strengthening its repair network, parts inventory, and rapid-response mechanisms, to ensure a seamless and dependable ownership experience for every customer.

Chinese Ambassador to New Zealand Wang Xiaolong, Auckland Deputy Mayor Desley Simpson, and New Zealand Member of Parliament Nancy Lu each delivered remarks at the event. They spoke highly of BAIC’s commitment to deepening its presence in the New Zealand market and advancing automotive industry cooperation between China and New Zealand, recognized Armstrong’s professional capabilities and strong market reputation as a local partner, and offered positive assessments of the quality, technology, and market prospects of the two flagship models showcased at the event.

The two models launched are well-suited to the demands of the New Zealand market. The B30 carries forward BAIC’s off-road DNA, combining strong terrain capability, high reliability, and all-terrain adaptability to handle challenging road conditions and outdoor adventure with ease. The X55 is tailored for urban families, meeting local consumers’ dual expectations for quality and smart technology through an intelligent cockpit, refined comfort, and high safety standards. During the vehicle handover ceremony, Wang Jianhui personally presented the keys to New Zealand’s first BAIC owner, marking the official start of deliveries and customer service in the market.

The dual-model launch of the B30 and X55 in New Zealand represents a pivotal move for BAIC in the right-hand-drive markets of the Southern Hemisphere. As a key component of BAIC International’s annual market expansion plan, the New Zealand entry not only fills a gap in the regional market but also serves as a compelling example of the group’s “One Core, Five Transformations” strategy in action. The international business division has started the year on a strong footing, with year-over-year sales growth in January and February. Meanwhile, core capabilities, including pre-research on industrialization projects, product localization for key markets, and supply chain coordination, are rapidly taking shape.

The opening of the New Zealand market represents a concrete step in BAIC International’s evolution from “product export” to “full-system globalization”. Through deep collaboration with local partners, BAIC will engage the New Zealand market with a long-term commitment, continuously building capabilities across product competitiveness, service networks, and brand recognition. This lays a foundational model for regionalized operations that will support BAIC International’s international growth ambitions throughout the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
